It could have been Dak. The Rams did like him.
But who knows if they would have drafted him if they didn't trade up.
They might have taken Lynch if they didn't trade up. And that looks like a bad decision by Elway right now.
So yeah, that was a real crapshoot.
Thing is, the Rams were trying to load the dice in the crap game by trading up.
And they paid a premium to do it, as is always the case when you move up that far.
The Rams raised the stakes in the crapshoot by paying so much, and they had a choice between Wentz and Goff, the two top QBs.
The point is not that they made a mistake by trading up and loading the dice in the crapshoot, its that they needed to pick a guy who would be a good QB.
If Goff can't play then they crapped out like a big loser in Vegas. Thats what we are looking at right now. We don't know if they crapped out or not.
So we can say who would be our QB if we didn't trade up, but thats not the right question. The right question is once you trade up, did you take a guy who can play? If you didn't they you screwed up big time.
