And I think that is the best argument.
I would hate to lose Donald. But is it really money we are talking about? I think Demoff sees the cap as numbers in a system. And to a large degree it is a value-based system with exceptions. I think that's why the Rams are paying $16 mil to a CB probably not worth half that. I don't know how they would do it but my guess is they have projections for HOW they want to distribute the cap over the next 5 years, etc. And if they sign Donald it means that his contract fits in with those calculations. Not that he's worth it or should be paid that much. And I disagree with that logic for the most part.
I would prefer to trade him and add/resign 2 or 3 very good players and get some draft picks. And hopefully the Rams will end up paying a worthy QB, franchise QB money. And it needs to be Goff, lol... But if the Rams do sign Donald, I would be OK with that... just not what I would do.
