Webster (or Gaines, depending)
Joyner
Alexander
NRC

I figure they;'re gone. I mean it;s the nature of the biz...teams that draft well let good players go. But the Rams record with drafting DBs is so good, they just might have guys for 4 years and that's it, and it'll always be fine. Johnson is already a potential replacement for Joyner and I like Joyner.

..,.

Gotta disagree, zn.

Joyner and Alexander, at least, are keepers, for sure. One doesn't let a 2nd and a 4th rounder that one hits on just walk away. Not without a fight, anyway.

Both have legit future Pro Bowl potential. Those kind of players you keep.

Which enables the Rams to use their draft picks for TruJo and Tavon type replacements. Hard enough to hit on our picks without having a revolving door catch and release policy come extension time. Not if one wants to build a playoff and potential championship roster.

I think we can extend AD and still have enough money left over to stabilize our roster.

I don't think they would have drafted Johnson in the 3rd round if they intended to keep Joyner and Alexander. I also don't believe that Wade Philips defenses have paid big money to the safety position let alone both safety positions.

My prediction is, choose one between Joyner and Alexander.

So dz...

You think that they will only keep one of the two?

I'm hoping that they can and will keep both. Unless you think neither will approach Pro Bowl play status this year? In that case, your logic seems sound.

But if both have a standout season, I want to extend both. Say goodbye to Tavon and TruJo and spend those saved cap dollars on better players.

My personal preference is to keep both. I really like MO and Joyner. But several things tell me that that’s not likely to happen. One is we have a new coaching staff. Neither player was drafted by Wade.

Secondly, as mentioned, the new staff has drafted a safety with a premium pick. That guy will be given a shot soon. The fact he’s inexpensive when the current safety’s are about to become more expensive cements it.

Paying Donald like Watt is fine. Paying Tavon like Julio is not. nm

Fair, I was just using Tavon as an example of our terrible cap management:
