Why are so many positing that the Rams aren't gonna pay him?
It's just that they're not gonna pay him "whatever he wants".
Something like 5-6 years at $18-20 million per with around $65 million guaranteed.
I don't have a problem with the Rams paying the "Donald" but if he was to get paid more than Von Miller, I would be concerned.
Von Miller signed a
6 year, $114,500,000 contract with the Denver Broncos, including a $17,000,000 signing bonus,
$70,000,000 guaranteed, and an
average annual salary of $19,083,333.What will be the
"butterfly effect" in 2018 & 2019 should Donald get a Von Miller deal or even a tad bit more?
LB Alec Ogletree
(2018- UFA) Would Tree get the contract he wants after a big year in 2017?
LB Mark Barron
( 2018- $10,000,000 ) - is he worth 10 mil?
DT Michael Brockers
( 2018- $10,750,000 ) - is he worth 10.5 mil?
WR Tavon Austin
( 2018- $8,000,000 ) - probably released unless he blows up in 2017
OG Rodger Saffold
( 2018- $7,500,000 ) - probably cut in 2018 regardless
After the 2017 season ends, McVay will have had a full year of managing and evaluating his personnel.
For the Rams to be a legitimate contender in 2018, McVay and Wade might think they need to be aggressive in the 2018 Unrestricted Free Agent market.
McVay & Wade will need to resign some of their own UFA players as well. You cannot let them all walk and expect to be better the following season.
