Dez Bryant is a perfect example IMO of why your formula is faulty.
Dez Bryant is a #1 receiver by any measurement.
He has been as important and possibly next to Jason Witten has made more big plays than anyone on the team.
Dez was coming off an injury plagued season where he only played in 9 games.
Last season he missed the first 3 games and played in 13 games with only 50 resc for 796 yards.
BUT in the playoffs where it was one and done, he had 9 recs 132 yards and 2 TD's.
He is a #1 receiver by any measurement!
Sorry for the confusion. What can I say, we all misread now and then. Anyway, I said Dallas didn't have a guy last year, but yes that was because of Bryant missing games.
Here's the thing. I don't mind saying a guy didn't make the list because he missed time. That's because my definition doesn't tell you what a guy IS, it's how he produces any given year, and how he's used in the offense. But Bryant has made the cut before by my definition, will most likely make it again, is their leading guy, and is elite overall. So it's not a put-down to say the guy didn't make the cut in 2016. We expect he usually will. But the list can and does change year by year. Sometimes it;s an injury. Sometimes a guy like, possibly, Woods both matures and gets a chance to become a lead receiver who can perform at the #1 level (by my definition).
And so yes in the playoffs he was their lead receiver, and unless hurt again will continue to be that in the near future.
Tell you what I should have said though---the real list of playoff teams without a guy I define as a #1 is Kansas City, making it 11 of 12....with Bryant there in parentheses because we normally expect him to play to that standard at a minimum. So does Dallas have a guy who can do that? Sure, Bryant, when he's not injured.
