The conversation is being made more difficult by the interjection of terms or subjects that have either not been said or not germane to the discussion.

I agree that the conversation has been difficult.
But I think it's a mutual thing, and it's purely accidental. That;s what I mean when I say we're talking past each other. Sometimes that just happens. Communication stumbles. People misread this or that thing. Happens to all of us.
