Actually you can run without a passing game. ED for years got 1800 plus yards without a QB. He faced stacked boxes and had 200 yard games.
But, he had a great OL blocking for him. All Pros. We never won the SB this way, but got deep into the playoffs running. The Ravens won a title running and playing D with Trent Dilfer at QB. The Skins had the hogs and would run right over you even if you knew the play. It can be done.
We didn't have the OL. We didn't run a great scheme. I'd rather have a balanced attack because not only is it more successful but more fun to watch. I am confident that the scheme will be improved and hope the OL will be too. Certainly adding a Pro Bowl LT and veteran center should help. We definitely have the beef up front. It's a huge OL. And Gurley showed he can be an AP, ED type runner if not hit in the backfield. The scheme was ridiculous. I knew every play be formation way before the snap. When I watch really good teams they fool me. Remember when we played the Skins and they ran roughshod over us? I think they got like 200 yards rushing on our very good D. That was scheme and execution. McVay was the architect. Or at cleats the contractor. Now he's building our offense. And I think it should work. Only problem is we have many new parts and an OL needs to gel. But it should in time.
