that i thought was interesting was the following....
Brown brought up a disconnect between the running back and the offensive line.
"A lot of times you could see where it just seemed like we were on different pages," Brown said. "I don’t know if that’s being coached differently. How it’s being conveyed in each room, we don’t know. The big thing is we have to get back on the same page, because when we’re on the same page, we’re pretty damn good."
to me, combined with gurleys HS offense comment, is an indictment of the coaching staff. first on boras for just basically being in over his head and then ultimately on fisher for never really evolving with his offensive philosophy which i think hindered his ability to bring in quality offensive staff.
Yep that's one of the things.
It was far from the only one AND it itself, IMO, was caused by other things.
The last time we saw an offense begin the season as out of sync as they did in 2016 was in 2011, when McDaniels installed a new offense without an off-season (due to the lockout). ln 2016 the results were initially similar and the causes IMO similar--a first time coordinator installs a new offense during a move, with distracted and less focused players.
And Jamon and Todd were themselves issues ALSO. Players regressed. Only a few of them have the cajones to flat admit that. It's easier to deflect blame. So for example they had a new offense and Todd was less involved in the off-season...how well did he know the offense?
Because IMO there were many causes for 2016, each person who is committed to ONE cause can find quotations to back them.
My take on this is to add up all the different quotations and bits of evidence from their play and conclude that it was not one single thing.
This is an unshakable belief on my part...a very strong opinion. I am trying to see the whole elephant, and with all due respect, I think one cause people are only seeing different parts of the elephant.
In the end of course mine is just one more opinion too but I personally believe it wasn't one thing at all.
