LMU93
Combination of:
- lack of passing game threat (8-9 in the box)
- predictability of scheme, play calling
- lack of adaptability mid-game of scheme
- individual poor OL performances (Robinson, Barnes in particular)
- Gurley getting frustrated with getting leveled in the backfield and starting to freelance by mid-season
- Offense largely quits on Fisher/Boras in final 3-4 games
I regularly call it "a perfect cluster storm."
I think it captures the essence.......
My list and your list are not the same though.
I don't agree on the "predictability" thing though. I think that execution issues always trump that. I also don't agree that they didn't adapt. They did, they just weren't very good at it. I think Gurley let the team down by not working out and studying in the offseason, so to me it's more than just him getting frustrated---Gurley carries a lot of blame here and is one example, IMO, of what moving did to the team. Him lashing out at others is not a sign of maturity. Him dedicating himself to working this off-season IS a sign of maturity. They did have a passing game threat with Keenum which is why they won games. But if you can't run the ball, it's easy to take that away, too. The entire OL with IMO one exception underperformed, though sometimes that was because of playing with injuries (Wichmann, Havenstein).
And there's more.
I get tired of typing so I quit on my posts.
