This 31 year old HC has been in football his whole life. He was just a successful OC for the third best offense in football. If we didn't hire him another team would. Another team I cheer for is the Boston Celtics. They hired the youngest HC in NBA history because he kept getting his college team deep into the NCAA tournament with no names. He had/has a coaching philosophy that works. Because they had a good HC Al Horford signed with them and now they are in the second round of the playoffs. Can they bear Lebron? Probably not. Can they beat the Warriors? Even less chance. But age is not a reason a good can coach or not. Don Shula was a very young man and nobody won more often than him. Because our team has been a loser since the early 90s we as fans are frustrated and fun shy. It's hard to be optimistic about this year's team and the future. But I like the McVay hire. He'll find the right players to fit his schemes. If they hold course they will be winners.
