It would have been classy for the NFL to reimburse whatever it was, 6 million or so? [edit-Les said it was around 20 million?) of the city's money for putting together all those plans and doing the legwork to secure all those lots that were going to be combined for the stadium.

It could have come from just a tiny, tiny slice of the YUUUUGE windfall relo fee of 1.1 billion paid out to the NFL by the Rams and the Chargers ($550,000,000 has to be the largest "fee" in history!) and would have mended some fences and probably headed off this lawsuit in the first place.

But... the NFL was not obligated to pay back a dime, so they didn't, and here we are.

I do bids for a living. There is always a clause in every Bid request that states the requester is not responsible or liable for the costs the bidder accumulated in putting their proposal together.

The NFL owes St. Louis nothing.

Grits
