No one talks about him vs press coverage. Why? Because he is protected from it based on his teams scheme and almost exclusive use in the slot. Watch him on 90+% of his catches...free release and simply runs to a spot. Defender never even breathes in his direction. I have never seen him face physical COLLEGE play and I'm supposed to just assume he makes the huge jump to NFL physical play without issue? I think he will adjust...to smaller slot corners, bigger physical outside CBs will be another story.

How are people projecting a college slot WR from a spread scheme to an NFL outside receiver in a pro style offense?

I think that jrry32 raised good points about Kupp having success against the likes of Marcus Peters and Bubba Baker as a sophomore in college, Flip. Slot or no slot, press or no press. Some of his success was vs zone, some vs press. I think he would be a real weapon in McVay's O.

Look, I'm not pounding the table for Kupp, exactly. But I really was impressed by that post about Kupp. I would not be broken hearted if he were our pick at #37.

The post says "His three TDs were a 7 yard TD against Marcus Peters in zone coverage, a 41 yard TD against Marcus Peters in man coverage, and a 26 yard TD against Bubba Baker in man coverage. "

Kupp had 3 TDs but this is all of Peters snaps. I don't see one where Kupp beats him for a 41 yard TD.

I do see at .57 Kupp's TD vs Baker. Nice play vs man but it's 4th and 2, Baker over plays the short route. Better/more aggressive play call is the real winner imo.

At 3:15 mark I see a 7 yard TD catch by Kupp but Peters is pressing the outside WR and comes off him to try and make the play on Kupp. Not saying Peters couldn't be playing zone but I find it extremely odd he would be getting physical with the outside WR whe he would also be responsible for Kupp in the slot that close to the end zone short zone. I wouldn't call that "vs Peters".

At 2:10 I do see a rare instance of Kupp getting pressed (by Peters) and you can clearly see my concerns.
