What we have here now is a situation where the obvious long-term starter for this team, the player they hope is their franchise QB, can't be inserted into the lineup because they've won a few games with the backup, who very likely won't even be here next year.
I don't care how you look at it, that's screwed up. And maybe it's Goff's fault, and maybe it's Fisher's fault, or his staff's fault, or maybe it's nobody's fault. But I don't think it's good.
IMO, it sucks.
That surprises me, that you think this is a bad situation.
My view is different. I just dont see any downside to this at all. I got zero qualms or problems with Goff sitting for a short time, or a long time -- as long as Case is winning with his ugly efficient style.
I just dont see this as 'wasted time' for Mr Goff. I think he's learning plenty of important things on the sidelines and meanwhile the Rams are winning.
I dont want him in there now botching snaps and tossing INTs and watching the Rams lose games. I just dont care when he plays. I trust the coaches to know when Goff gives them a better chance to win than Case.

.... we obviously think/hope Goff's ceiling is (much) higher than CK, and therefore that the Rams' ceiling with Goff is higher than with Keenum taking the snaps. And while I agree that Goff can learn a lot on the sidelines, some of his learning can only happen on the field. So unless CK suddenly starts looking like a very good QB, and not simply a QB doing just enough to not hold the team back, I do want to see Goff in there by the start of next season for sure, preferably before (and definitely earlier if Rams starts losing under CK).
That;s true longterm, absolutely. The problem is, the majority of rookie starters at qb struggle. That's regardless who they are or who they play for. It's just borne out by the facts. With obvious exceptions, if you insert a rookie, you are saying you will live with the losses that come from that.
Now Goff could be an exception...we don;t know. And maybe delaying his first game diminishes the rookie factor. Don't know.
BUT here's the thing about "news" about Goff."
