Nothing has happened this off-season to make me change my mind about the trade. I think it was a huge mistake and will set the Rams back years.
I thought at the time that this is the kind of trade a really good team makes, one
loaded with talent across the board, but just missing that one piece.
That's not the Rams. Last April they lacked talent at QB, WR, TE, with major questions at safety, corner, and depth at linebacker. Even though Snisher had gone crazy with O-line picks the previous draft, we still had questions there, too, and no center had been drafted. Quinn was coming off back surgery. We lost DT depth with Fairley's exit. Just a lot of areas of need -- too many to trade away the house.
All of that said, I'm obviously hoping this is just a temporary bump in the road for Goff and the Rams. I'm pulling for whomever starts and for Goff's future. But I just wish they had had more faith in building up their roster before they made that kind of all or nothing move. In general, I'm not a big fan of putting those eggs in the one proverbial basket.
Regardless, I hope I'm waaay wrong about the trade, etc.
