I have not placed words in anybody's mouth.
I have read post after post knee jerk panic reactions because Goff played like a rookie last night when he had scrubs surrounding him in the latter part of the game.
Its exactly the reaction I expected and none of you disappointed me either.
I came into this pre-season with a realistic outlook on Goff and did not expect him to start or be great. I came in with no expectations as I understood he's a rookie and has no NFL experience.
What I'm trying to get across to people here is its not a horrible situation. They kid can still be a great QB. Its not horrible that Keenum is the starter as he showed us late last season he can play. Its not horrible to me anyways that Mannion is number 2 as Mannion is a QB with some talent and lets not forget he's played well enough in his college career to be the all-time leading passer in the Pac 12. Which is no small feat. So, if ultimately I can see where folks may be upset about al the picks the Rams gave up to get Goff but as far as Goff himself goes, he can still be a franchise QB in this league. That has not changed. Everybody learns at a different pace. We've seen him in parts of 4 pre-season games Which is a small sample size.
The kid was drafted in April and has had OTAs and now camp and that is it. It may very well be that the lights will not turn on for him until his 2nd year.
It happens just that way for many players.
We shall see.
