You can't win the SB with the worst pass blocking center in the league as per PFF.
The Rams had to do something to solidify the C/OL pass blocking.
Their FA center choices seemed to be:
- Ryan Kelly (ranked 5th in pass blocking) (signed with Minn - 2 yrs/18mil)
- Coleman Shelton (10th ranked in pass blocking) (signed with Rams for ?)
- Drew Dalman (12th ranked in pass blocking) (signed with Bears - 3yrs/42mil)
Their next option could have been to sign a FA guard and move Avila to center:
- Zeitler - (3rd ranked guard overall)
- Pryor (5th ranked guard in pass block)
- Risner (8th ranked guard in pass block)
- Jenkins (10th ranked guard in pass block)
(all the above guards are still available, but signing Coleman says they are not signing anymore OL?)
Last option was to draft a center.
My preference was Zabel at #26, but my knowledge is limited - I trust McVay.
Avila at center was a disaster
