After Corum at 83 (which I think was a great pick - he will outplay Kyren), Wilson kept dropping.
Our 6th round picks were worth 3 points each which was good enough to get to #94 - #98 from #99 and take Wilson.
I understand the ACL issue. If Wilson plays like he did this past year at NC St, he will be worth a 3rd rounder and more.
I also understand what he did on the field when I watched NC State games. He is a game changer at LB.
I think, as long as he remains healthy, Wilson will play much like . . . ready . . . Fred Warner, except with 4.43 speed instead of 4.64.
It would have meant not drafting Kinchens in the 3rd. I am ok with that as I do not believe Kitchens is a game changing safety.
We could have taken a safety later or even UDFAs like Josh Proctor or Millard Bradford.
I think you have to accumulate "game changers" when you can.
To only give up a 6th to get Wilson would have been a small price to pay for a LB who will play in the top 5 - 10 in the league - my opinion, if only for 4 years.
He would have been especially valuable to us in defending the 49ers TE/RB/WR near the LOS as well as deeper.
Just my opinion, I could be way off - time will tell.
