Today I am glad that the trade didn't happen. But, today I also know that he wouldn't have had that much time with Aaron Donald & that the 2022 season turned out to be a injury fest.
At the time, I wasn't so sure as I believe(d) that both Burns and Donald on the same team would have been a nightmare for opposing offenses and we've seen the team adjust and adapt via corresponding personnel decisions without those high selections (who aren't guaranteed to be hits, btw) in the past.
The key thing to take note of, however, is that the Rams targeted a player and made an offer which many believed would have been an overpay, but the offer was denied and the Rams didn't get the player.
Those complaining about the Fiske deal seem to disregard that the Rams
MAY NOT have gotten their targeted player if they settled upon draft chart norms. It's like some would rather them not get the higher rated player & best fit on their board, but would rather save face and settle for a lower rated talent that doesn't fit the plan as well. Or presume that a trading partner
HAS TO accept any trade offer that fits draft chart norms.
