This stuff of grading drafts in the few days or weeks after they've concluded is ridiculous.
All they ever mean is: "They agree with my picks" or "They don't agree with my picks".
If one wants to say that, on the surface, a team's draft is logical, fills clear needs, reflects a plan and a strategy, then sure. But then it is pass or fail.
It takes a minimum of 1 year to get an inkling about a draft class, 2 is more like it, 3 is the most definitive about whether or not the right players were chosen, and if they are successful or not.
So, for the Rams the grade is "Pass". For a team like Atlanta for instance, it is "Fail". The Rams draft was logical and needs oriented with systems and specific player attributes in mind. Atlanta's draft made no sense at all at the top, and was like Mulligan Stew the rest of the way either in only lightly, or not at all, addressing their real needs and it is pretty hard to figure out any commonality among player make-up or attributes.
Now, as for the individual players as turning out to be successful or not? Only 1-3 years from now will anyone know.
That the Rams last year had so many players that were instant successes is not the norm. So, we can already give the 2023 grade for the Rams draft an A if not an A+.
