I just don't think big spending is required to take advantage of this window. A bigger factor at this point would drafting well again in 2024. They need pieces, no question. Most specifically at CB and Edge rusher. And maybe someone like Hunter could be brought in. They have flexibility in 2025 and 2026 to backload a deal with someone like him.
I just think when you breakdown what this team needs it's another good draft and a few pieces here and there. The right ones certainly. But it's quality, not quantity.
For a guy like Stafford who is 36 I don't think it's wise at all to restructure and add a lot of money to his deal in 2025 and 2026. I say stand where they are with him knowing that if/when he does retire they then have plenty of money to get that next guy.
