MtRam,
I appreciate your comments.
Every player brings risks. Signing a guard who has had one real good year out of 4, is risky, especially at 17mil/yr.
What if . . . he reverts back to "average"/can't make Steelers starting lineup status? I want Dotson back - he was awesome last year, but there is risk. . .
The goal is to win the Super Bowl.
You win Super Bowls with elite/HOF players. . . and good coaching.
2021 = Donald, Stafford, Kupp, Whitworth, Weddle, Von Miller, Ramsey, Beckham and Darious Williams. 6/7 HOFers?
Of all the T, G, C, TE and RBs in the NFL last season, Tyron Smith was
the highest rated pass blocker in the league.
Nothing against Alaric Jackson, the Rams need him as well, but he was the 74th rated pass blocker in the league.
Smith played 942 snaps, 30 more than Rob Havenstein and 80 less than Alaric Jackson.
You need players like Smith to win Super Bowls.
If the goal is to be 10 - 7 and lose in the first round of playoffs, then we don't need the best pass blocking LT in football.
I think of the 49ers without Trent Williams at LT. They don't do real well.
To me, Smith would be a Trent Williams type of difference maker for the Rams and if the goal is Super Bowls, you go after him.
By the way, Smith went to college at USC. So maybe that helps the Rams?
