Here's the thing: Tutu and Skow are bubble guys. They are B list players. The Rams need to keep their A list players, and sign a couple more A-listers. You just can't have it both ways. We know who Tutu and Skow are, and they aren't going to become something different with more years in the league. They aren't guys who are about to elevate their games and break out.
The way you keep your A-listers is to let some of your B list guys go and replace them through the draft.
The Rams have a good amount of draft capital and Les is notorious for picking up more. I just don't buy that the Rams can't replace Skow and Tutu with new guys who can contribute about as much but save the team perhaps $750 K to $1mil..
I know that $750K - $1mil doesn't sound like much compared to the multi-million dollar deals some players get. But in order to pay those real contributors and difference makers, you have to accumulate the money and you sure don't do it all in big chunks and restructures.
Of course, none of us know how Snead and McVay evaluate Skow and Tutu in the pecking order. Ours is just speculation.
