I respect your opinion and agree with a lot of your points but not all.
The "head to head" thing doesn't carry as much weight for me as it does you. McVay beat Shanny when it mattered most...in the NFCCG.
If Shanny or Lafluer are truly better than McVay, they should've won a few more Super Bowls, shouldn't they?
How much "weight" should carry? When the game required BOTH Shanny and McVay to be at their very best in the NFCCG, the better coach won.
McVay isn't perfect but neither is Andy Reid who is one of the few coaches I rate higher than McVay.
I don't need a "label" on McVay to tell me how good he is. I choose to enjoy every second he is our HC. Yes, I will still criticize his mistakes but that still won;t change my mind on just how good McVay really is.
Is there any other HC who has his staff "raided" year after year as much as McVay does? THAT tells me how the rest of the the league feels about how good he is too.
Is he "Elite" or just very very good?

You mentioned McVay is a "Top 5 HC in the ENTIRE NFL" and I agree. IMO, that makes him one of the top 3 in the NFC for sure...maybe even the best.
It really doesn't matter to me what people "label" him. IMO, he is THE best HC the Rams have ever had...flaws and all. The li9st of coaches better than McVay is a very short one!
