My reaction is based on seeing average time to throw stats for QB's.
4 or 5 seconds would be amazing off the charts as an average.
I actually tried to look up what it was for both QB's in that game.
I couldn't find that stat for this particular game BUT on Pro Football Reference I found the below listed for the 2023 Season. They are not in order for this stat.
The number column was labeled
Pkt time. As you can see Goff's time to throw of 2.3 is not much different than anyone else's and less than quite a few. Mayfield's of 2.4 is just slightly longer. NO ONE has anything close to 4 or 5 seconds to throw the ball on a consistent basis.
So there goes the "Goff has so much time to throw" narrative for anyone with an open mind.

I don't doubt that on some particular play or plays you were able to make that count, but not consistently.
I just don't think so. I know I saw plays where Goff had guys coming at him and got rid of it, often for a completion. He was also sacked.
Your stated conclusion tho, was that Mayfield was better and would have won if he'd had Goff's time to throw and vice versa.
Seems like an unprovable assertion.
And there are so many other what if's. What if Goff had a tall beast of a receiver like Mike Evans, where he could just sort of fling it downfield in his direction and Evans would go get it. Cuz that's what I saw Mayfield do on their big scoring drive at the end of half 1.
