You know how it is man. People focus on wins. Signature wins. It seemed after that SB he didn’t have any. 2018 That Bears performance on national TV, the SB performance, 2019 was just bad, 2020 no growth even though he had a top 10 run game and the NFLs number one defense.
I know it’s easy to say he fell out of favor because he’s not flashy but that’s not it. It’s really because in the biggest spots he played really poorly and it started with the Detroit game in 2018 and really extended to the SB with the exception of the NFCCG in which he actually carried the offense that day.
But what do you know. Here he is right back in the NFCCG. He’s in the perfect system very much like what he had in 2017 and 2018 with the Rams. Ben Johnson who I love is just dialing up plays for him and of course he has Gurley again in the form of 2 1k yard backs in Montgomery and Gibbs. Watching him in that offense is like watching him at his best with the Rams all over
again. When things are right he can kill ya. When they aren’t he still seems to fall harder than most.
You know he could really kick down the door… go beat the Niners and go win the SB. Beat them by throwing the game winning Td. Now how about that? It’s time for him to go to that level. On the road in SF… heavy underdogs to the juggernaut 49ers. Don’t just be good, not just the stats, but be great against the best in the biggest moment. That’s what he’s missing. Does he have a little Eli Manning in him? Think about Flacco in the Ravens SB year when he got hot in the playoffs.
I don’t know that I will root for him over the Ravens or Chiefs in the SB but I damn sure want to see him end the Niners. Even though there’s a part of me (as you know) that hates the fact it’s going to make the Rams look like impulsive, jerks. (my opinion now and you’ve held that all along)
I love me some Stafford that’s my guy but he hasn’t been to 3 NFCCGs and the Rams gutted their defense this past offseason. Strange given Stafford’s age, I mean do the Rams beat the Lions if Floyd, Ramsey, and Wagner stay? Are they in the NFCCG? Heck do they win the division? So again the Rams are an impulsive bunch. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.
Oh and how much you want to bet Rams @ Lions next year on SNF!! That’s shaping up to be quite the rivalry potentially.
Meet you in Detroit? lol

Goff doesn't stir the blood of the fans.
He's not going to bail nimbly out of the pocket, shrug off a tackler, make another scramble, and then suddenly stop and find a receiver who has managed to get open during all of that. And that's the kind of play that makes us all jump off the couch.
Not Jared. You're right. He's awkward and goes down easily if rushers get to him. But he hasn't stopped improving what he does well. And at this point, with some protection, he is an assassin back there with his accuracy. Throws a ball so easy to catch.
I saw someone say before the Ram game "take away his security blanket, LaPorta". False. Goff doesn't have or need a security blanket. He spreads it around. Sure, Amon-Ra is a great slot receiver and one of the best in the league at getting open, so he gets targets. As does LaPorta.
But I KNEW going into that game that if LaPorta was limited and they doubled Amon-Ra that Goff would start going to Josh Reynolds. He takes what the defense gives and does it better than just about anybody.
