Three stright 75 yard TD drives to start the game

Goff was 22-22 without pressure

Goff was 0-5 under pressure

It isn't rocket science.... shouldnt have taken three straight 75 yard TD drives to figure it out.

Props for figuring things out at half time, but it would have been nice if it was a little earlier....that is all

McVay had his own issues, but let's not pretend that the first half defense wasn't an issue

1. It's true that Lions had Rams defense on their heels the first half.
2. On the 22 completes on some of them there was pressure attempted, and yes, in the first half. Sometimes you blitz and it doesn't get the pressure you want. Other times you get pressure from your front without blitzing.

Example.

In the first half Rams got pressure on Goff and he fumbled. But it wasn't a blitz, it was a bootleg, but Young stayed home and Donald sniffed it out ... there was no one open and Goff got sacks and did that fumble that Lions.

Next play, 2nd and 25. Rams blitz both LBers and they get pressure but it is a screen and it is completed for 10 yards -- in that case it was sniffed out. There was pressure but Goff got it off. So, Rams blitz and in whoever you are getting information from says no pressure. Okay fine ... let's say it is accurate does it tell the complete story?

third play, Rams show pressure and are in press coverage, Lions run rou routes and Lake and Yeast collide and Spoon --- playing press does not get a good jam, in fact, the WR jams him and creates separation.

So, yeah you could say Jones shouldn't have faked, he should have been told to blitz ... but Rams had blitzed the previous play so would he have gotten there? I don't know.

nexy 3rd down, 2 plays later Jones blitzes ... and Hoecht gets pressure and it's incomplete. This is in the first half. Next play Jones is showing pressure and it's the one their LT moved his hand to try and draw Jones off.

Punt.

All that was in the first half.

Rams blitzed or showed simulated blitz on all passing situations. They just didn't work until late in half. In the first half Lions were not even getting into 3rd downs. They were using a lot of 12 personnel and passing from that ... 1st and 10, you don't blitz. 2nd and three you don't blitz. So these passes were not going to be blitzed by even Brian Flores.

Then the exact same pattern occurred in 2nd half, only the pressures got there.

Also, curious, where does that number come from? It does not match with the film I've watched a few times now. Not saying it is way, way off. I am sure whoever did it was following their own protocols. But PFF has 12 hits/hurries by the Rams. Also official gamebook shows 6 QB hits ... so there is some differences in those numbers and I don't know who is the accurate ones.

I get the frustration and it does appear that there was more aggressiveness in the 2nd half, but when you look at it, there really wasn't. Rather than taking a big swing and missing -- that is what happened in first half, the Rams swung and hit a few in 2nd half.

The blame of the defense was bad tackling and allowing explosive plays. Reynolds had 2 explosives in the first 2 drives.

I would like to see where you got those numbers though. I am curious about these kinds of things where the are official gamebooks having one number, PFF with another and I guess whoever put out that info about only 5 plays with pressure ...

I don't think there was any change of strategy in 2nd half. It was executed better and in all cases there were only 9 plays (3rd downs of 4 or more yards, plus the 4th and 5 and the 2nd and 25) that were even blitzable.

The OL of Lions is good and Rams didn't get enough pressure.

Anyway, I appreciate the take, but I wanted to give some more information based on watching this danged game 3 times so far.
