I do not see us trading away our picks for players this year as it seems we set ourselves up to spend in free agency thus pivoting from our comp pick strategy. The trades were great for two reasons. It ensured that we got players without sacrificing comp picks and there was value there. The value side changed recently as other times picked up on the strategy reasoning and the value evaporated quickly. When we saw this shift is when I think our front office made a decision to pivot entirely. That is when all the salary dumps happened, opening up tons of cap room and stock piling picks. This pivot makes me think we are not in the business of trading picks for players anytime soon, unless the value comes back all of a sudden.
I think if we were totally out of the playoff hunt, we actually might be the ones on the other end of players for picks. Players that maybe are not in our plans going forward or that we know we do not want to re-sign at the potential price point. With that said, I think the trade deadline should be pushed out a bit further, but that is a totally different topic all together.
