I thought the whole cap clearing and player cutdown last off-season was the "setup".
I don't think our FO works in "phases". I think they do what they can to win it all every year. Was there a top down directive the year the SB was in SoFi? From Sneads perspective, I'm sure. From McVays? I doubt it.
Next year will be year two of the "new deal" the Rams have been working on to build through the draft and we'll see how they spend money in FA. I think we're out of the draft picks for players phase, at least I hope we are. We'll see. After the success of this years draft, I think the Rams should be pursuing young, cheap talent in the draft and filling the cracks with smart FA signings.
