Besides Jones we don't have a starting caliber IlB.
According to this article [
www.turfshowtimes.com] "... the Rams’ base defense has been a 3-3-5 which is your standard nickel package". As we all know a nickel package only utilizes one ILB.
Also from that same article: "In 2021 and 2022, they lined up in a 3-4 on 17 percent and 15 percent of snaps. On Sunday, that number was zero. Instead, the Rams utilized a 4-3 look 20 percent of the time which was their second most frequent defensive formation." (Note1: "On Sunday" refers to the first game against the Niners. Note2: as we all know the 4-3 also only utilizes one ILB.)
Which makes me wonder: how good does the other ILB have to be when he is not part of the base defense and only sees the field 15% to 17% of the time on a good year. It seems that the way the Rams run their defense it's way more important that they have a good nickel back, and with Lake and Durant manning that position the Rams are doing OK IMO.
