But I agree with you that showing an empty backfield is a "tell" to the defense that they don't have to worry about the run. Plus the very next play DH subs for Freeman which to me implies that DH will get a pass play, since Freeman does not catch passes in this offense. I would have preferred that next play instead of the incomplete to Puka with 5 wides, and then running play action to Freeman and throw to Higbee or Puka on 3rd down.
