It is interesting how quickly we can forget that the organization from top to bottom, and the Rams media, etc., has explained over and over that 2023 is all about setting up for 2024.Dumping salaries, developing rooks and 2nd year players, and rebuilding especially the D, is the order of the day....not trying for as many wins as possible.
If any of us are frustrated over the Ram phoopahs on the field, then we don't understand what this year's goal is. They KNOW there will be errors and growing pains. There are and will continue to be. These Rams are FUN to watch if only we have the right lens to view them through.
We lack (in no particular order): a very good and reliable FG kicker. A very good back-up QB. King-Size run stopper on the D line. A quality rush end/OLB. A stud shut-down CB. Another good ILB.
We have plenty of WRs, our TEs are plenty solid, our Oline is good and has good depth (but Olines can always be better). A top notch RB is always a good thing, but the stable is far from empty.
Stafford is Stafford and I hope he stays a Ram for at least 3 more years. Rams would be wise to draft a QB for his successor, but I don't want to see them pick high unless they think they can get a generational player (which is unlikely because they will NOT be drafting in the top 10).
They should use their 1st pick next year as trade bait for a top youngish vet DB or rush OLB.
The Niners are going to run away with this division this year because they are built to do it. Second place is likely the Seahawks simply because they are more developed than the Rams. The Cards want to "win" the first pick in the draft so I see the Rams 3rd in the NFC West.
