Methinks LaFleur is another waterboy OC.
Maybe he runs errands, maybe he supervises practices, has other undefined duties. Just like his predecessor.
Maybe, like Sancho Panza, he tries to speak some truth to McVay's Dox Quixote after his battles against windmills are lost.
He was obviously sent into the presser to serve as McVay's apologist. McVay seems to be messaaging, "I'll call the game. When we win, I'll do the presser. When we lose but play well, I'll do the presser. When we lose because of me, you do the presser."
The excuse,"Gee, we can't possibly run against a pump-style run defense" is as blatantly hollow as any I've ever heard. The corrolary is, "Gee, we can't possibly pass against a nickel pass defense."
What, then, can we possibly do?
Dan Dierdorf said words to this effect in a game I watched years ago: There comes a time in a football game where the coach has to ask offensive linemen to dig deep into themselves, and bring all they have into a single block. The lineman may have to dig hishand into the dirt and at ther snap bring his best, a best he didn't know he had, strength he didn't know he possessed, into that block - and maybe do it again.
I think most people have no idea what an OC does on most teams that have offensive HC's....
McVay took full blame for the loss like he always does in his first presser btw and what LaFluer is correct when he says Stafford has final say on what play we run based on what he sees...Most teams with experienced QB's do the same thing....Had the Tutu TD not been reversed and the Higbee TD taken off the board the Rams probably win going away and nobody says anything about not running the ball most likely
