Lying about his intentions and then trying to get Shad Kahn to pay to give up right of first refusal when Rams sold by Frontiere heirs Chip and Lucia. I figured if shad played along Stan would have bought Jags and moved them to LA. He never gave @#$%& about the Rams, just the business (nothing wrong with that just an observation)
That said, I agree he is a top drawer owner in terms of patience, funding and staying out of the way. Now that Rams are situated, I don't think I would want any other owner.
I was sad when Rams moved from LA and Enos was part of that. I was elated when they returned and Enos did that. So he corrected the wrong he played a role in.
What was sleazy about Stan?
He was a minority owner that had a right of 1st refusal
The Rams needed a qualified Bid which they got from Kahn. It would be stupid to bid against yourself. Kahn set the price and the price was a steal.
The move to LA was really enabled by the fact the the stadium authority when they were attracting the Rams to move from LA gave away a sweetheart deal. When the contract renewal time came up the Authority did not wish to fulfill the conditions needed to secure the Rams to a long term extension as the price tag basically required then to build a new state of the art stadium.
So Stan Moved to a more lucrative market and spent his own money to build the state of the art stadium. In the end it was good for football and the Rams but hurt St. Louis but it wasn't sleazy. Mostly you had a bunch of 2 bit politicians making a fuss about the situation. I seem to remember they called him Silent Stan during the negations.
Always remember the Rams lived up the the stadium deal they had and St. Louis could have kept the Rams based on that deal but they chose not to. Everything else is a distraction from the facts.
