I remember Vermeil saying after the 1999 season that he felt the Rams needed to get tougher, that they were starting to get a little soft toward the end of the year. Was prophetic in hindsight, given how teams ran roughshod on that defense in 2000.
Really does make one wonder how things would've been different had he stayed.
