before being added to the roster was miraculous.... fate actually. It was meant to happen.
As I've posted ad nauseam I was following Warner in Europe. I don't do that, as a rule. Never, actually... do I follow a player closely before they are on the roster other than seeing them in college that is. When Green went down and Warner stepped in I "KNEW" Warner was good... great even! But don't misread me -
As you very well point out regarding your opinion of Warner going in... I also did NOT know he would be what he turned out to be.... but I did know he was no typical backup.
Completely agree with you regarding Martz.
I didn't watch much of NFL Europe. I saw a little of the Surge in early 1990s of WLAF because Jack Youngblood was a GM there and did the radio so there as some interest but by 1998---I wasn't watching...I 100% knew about Warner in terms of that he existed for the same reason, Youngblood was involved in arena and that was interesting, so I'd seen him play like once, for about a half a game. Just not interested. I saw a Predators game because Youngblood was there and got to talk to him for a minute.
Even with that, I didn't think he was anything. If anything I would have said lifetime backup--if that. I remember him wearing #10 and playing in garbage tim in 1998 . . .again, meh
So you had actually seen him play in 11-man football. I never did until he was a Ram. You were ahead of the game, then. I had no clue.
