I recall a couple of years ago reading that Snead's chief scout left and (I seem to recall - not sure) a couple of others as well.

I've pointed out in several posts that Snead ses his job as collborative; he tries to get the playuers the coaches want. McVay is enough of a control freak that the collaboration goes this way: Instead of saying "We need a player at position X who can do these things," and letting Snead and his staff shop the market for such a player, McVayis more inclined than other coaches to say, "I want this player." Snead does his job - goes and gets that player, maybe under coach's arm-twisting or direct bidding. Result. Tutu Atwell where I have to imagine McVay was in Snead's ear despite Creed Humphrey still being on thre board. McVay, like Martz, has an obsession for speedy little wideouts.

When a member of the staff says, "Oh please-please-please - if he's there get this guy! I'll jump in the swimming pool, fullyt dressed, if you do!" Snead gets Logan Bruss.

I'd like to see Bruss live up to expectation but in my view his stock plunged before he got hurt. He was drafted as an immediate plug-and-play rookie starter. A while later we hear "He'll be able to start by mid-season," and still later, "He might be ready to start by the end of the season." Remember?

Snead, I suspect, had more autonomy under Fisher but still - there were picks that were certainly 99% Fisher - Gurley, and a basketball playr who intrigued Fisher as a wide receiver project. Fisher flew Snead to a private workout and watched him catch passes before the draft. That's all Snead saw, but hey - if that's who you want, coach, I'll get him for you." I don't think this guy wasn't even on Snead's draft radar.

Dump Snead? Who else is better? What needs to be fixed is scout recruitment (always looking for better scouts) and the complex inner workings of relationships, roles, and responsibilities within the staff. And that, with a complex head coach who is "Not me, but we" oriented until his compulsion to control kicks in, is a challenge that reverberates throughout the staff. Good people under him leave for positions where they have more autonomy.

In another view, I've read on this board for years the anxiety encapsulated in the question, "How's Snead gonna get [-----------------] done?" The blank could be draft a player, sign a free agent, tragd for so-and-so, afford his guy's contract, whatever. After the dust settles the board is amazed - year after year - that Snead got it done. We have - right now - according to Kurt Warner and others who know their stuff, a playoff or repeat Super Bowl talented roster.
