Most ref's calls are "judgment" calls.... meaning they are subjective. Rarely do this miss offsides or illegal motion. Replay can catch and ameliorate ball placement, if a fumble occurred, objective stuff like that. But there is is no such thing as 100% right or wrong when something is subjective. It depends on point of view, circumstance, and a few other mental processes all occurring at once. It is a matter of how much is too much (or too little).
Until people can just get used to the idea that refs are humans, and humans are not ones and zeroes, and the game itself is not binary, and that there will always be these situations of woulda', coulda', shoulda', the complaining and calls for perfection will continue. I don't want to see anything at all more required of the refs. They do a fine job....except when it hurts the Rams!
