You raise good points, dude. The silence of other team owners is deafening.
My take?
Morris is a very glib DC, very personable. Players love him, press loves him. Heck, everybody loves him.
But he makes questionable decisions as to which players to start and his ultra soft zone drives fans nuts. Maybe team owners want to avoid such things in their new HC?
He doesn’t seem able to elevate play of his elite players and his history of poor development of secondary players is troubling. In fact, his 2 protege asst coaches brought in were fired by McVay. WTH?
I consider him a middle of the road DC, better than some but worse than others.
I will say that McVay’s feeble O made Morris’ job much more difficult last year. And Snead’s failure to acquire sufficient talent at edge was crippling, too.
Lastly, I think Morris will dodge a bullet if Irsay fails to hire him. I’m serious. I wouldn’t wish Irsay on ANY new HC.
