What I believe we need is someone to play OLG. I do not believe there is a tackle I would take in this draft, I see no upside "in our scheme" higher than what we've seen with healthy Noteboom or the possible ceiling of Alaric Jackson. I just don't like this class that much.
So .. are we looking for an OG/OC?
Or an OG/OT?
Because we value guys that play many positions.
I would lean personally on the former, from what we've seen, Snead and co would lean on the latter.
So guys in the round 2-3 range
OC/OG Avila, Tippman, JMS
OG/OT Mauch, Vorhees, Bergeron
That's what we have so far.
I think those guys flow through pick 80. There are a couple other pure OGs (Beebe, Torrance) ... and plenty of OTs that will go before.
But are they THAT much better than
4-5
OG/OC
Patterson, Forsythe, Wypler, Oluwatimi, Stromberg
OG/OT
Kirkland, Wanya Morris, Tyler Steen, Braeden Daniels
That's one thing to note ... the other is that if we go edge at 36, one of the guys on top will likely be there for us, and we won't have to make that decision.
I do have one asterisk. If Jaelyn Duncan slides ... he is the one player IMO that could play OG this season, and kick outside next if needed. He's that athletic. He's too raw to put outside now, so he'd need a year ... but he could likely do it.
But IMO he plays his way into the top 20 at Mobile.
What Im saying is that I'm totally good with the idea of something like Ojulari or Carter or Foskey/Vorhees or Avila.
