something I prefer, a Ryans/Saleh/Dan Quinn/even Fisher type

A 4 DL base--

As we've all discussed, coverages are all used by everyone.
Fronts can be different. But you still have to cover the gaps

The real differences between the 4-man lines and the 3-4 (5-2)
as they are sometimes called or the 5-1, is the kind of athlete
you get to do that.

In the stuff Rams run the guys on the edges are smaller, they
have to rush some and cover some--they alternate being
the "jack".

In the 49ers/Jets scheme they don't do that very often. Their DEs
are rushing..they cover with LBers.

Of couse, teams are in nickel most of the time--so that is the rub
we are in a 4-2-5 a lot of the time and a 5-1-5 a lot of the time

But 49ers, when they go nickel are in a 4-2-5

they don't do the 5-1-5 thing (I mean not enough to notice, cannot
say never)

so again it is the 5 vs 4 and the two outside guys in the 5 are LBers
small guys

Anyway, it's only a preference---I like the days of Long/Quinn better
than Floyd and whoever on the edges.

I like that kind of athlete
