Hell no,
A lot of people have far more difficult jobs in life and they have to suck it up year after year. He needs to decide to either be all in or all out. Either way is fine by me, but a lukewarm coach, with one foot in and one foot out, without being double minded tossed about by the waves of doubt, is not wanted.
He needs to choose what's best for him and his family and I support that, but I don't support anyone in a position like this always hedging their bets.
