A guy as invested as he is in football, a guy who loves being around "the guys", how easy is it to just take a year off? It just sounds to easy to me, look what DV did years ago, he was burned out, he had done it all, we had a guy he chose to replace him, he was going into the sunset....he went right to the chiefs before the next season began, not EVEN a year out of the game...more like a month or so.
The question would be would the team be OK with that, who do you choose as your coach with the idea being Sean is coming back....IMO you may be opening up a whole new can of worms that as far as I can think of has never been done.....
What I'd like him to do is continue on as HC, but take some serious time to decompress......go someplace with out/little ability to communicate.....save for who HE needs to stay in touch with (family).....do something off of the game and get his juices hungry again for the draft and beyond.....take off let Snead do the lifting until then, Snead knows him like the back of his hand....he can deal with the going of players......
Say he's in it for some time to come, then say I'll see you in a couple/three months and stand by that.....Recharged, refocused, healthy set to go....
Vermeil actually took the 2000 season off before realizing he made a mistake(or was he forced out?) and took Chiefs job in 2001
I agree , take advantage of the horrible year with no postseason and use this month to decompress.... would be best.
