I imagine anyone who grew up in Germany during WWII has similar stories.. My favorite, that I haven't mentioned here, but have on the board before, is about my grandfather - the one who did 3 years in the Russian gulag.. My mom told me he didn't serve with Baron Von Richthofen (Red Baron) but hung out with him quite a bit during WWI.. Man, I really wished I could have talked with him and heard those stories, but he didn't speak English and I didn't speak German, so never was able to really communicate with him..
