I agree that there is a lot of behind the scenes discussions and that insiders know more than gets made public. Look at Harvey Weinstein as an example. Apparently it was an open secret in Hollywood that he was a sexual predator, but the general public didn't know a thing. Which is one reason to give credit to reports from guys like VB when they talk about what they hear are demands from players and offers from teams. Insiders know things that don't get out to the public.
As far as the other thread goes, your assumption about the foundational premise is incorrect. And the actual premise is based the history of players that have held out due to being tagged. The vast majority end up signing with the home team. Only one example exists of that not happening - that I can find. Which is why I invited others to use the interwebs to see if they could come up with more. So far nobody has.
I agree that insiders know things. I already give some weight to what they say. But they'll often use vague language and not state things definitively so it's hard to know exactly what they know. So I give some weight, not just take everything at face value.
But...that's beside my point anyway. There's a BIG difference between insiders and agents. Agents often know things they shouldn't know. Around the draft this year, there were several articles that talked about the behind the scenes tampering that happens all the time. This is much beyond any insider information that would be reported. This is info that would never be reported. I'm talking about conversations that "never" happened.
This is why fans, and teams for that matter, routinely think that agents are crazy with their demands and then some team emerges and pays the price. The agent was never blindly stabbing in the dark.
In regard to the other thread, I'm not assuming anything about the foundational premise. I just stated that it didn't appear to be factually supported. You left blanks about the history of players that held out and didn't fill them in. Until those blanks are filled in, the premise is unsupported for purposes of me being able to discuss it. Generally the burden of proof is on the person making the assertion.
If you know the history of players that have held out due to being tagged, post it. Even better would be if you know the history of players that have held out AND demanded to be traded since that would the relevant comparison anyway.
How many players do you know of that have held out and demanded to be traded after being tagged?
