He is Horrific in August, Bad in September, and pretty good the rest of the season. (Except Offense where that is bad always) But defense and special teams will be very good in October November and Decemberby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
and agree with many that he should get time with 1's going against 1's. This QB situation could be a mess where none of them are the answer this season, but it could be a good situation. I think a missed opportunity was at the end of last year to not at least give him a few series to see how he would respond.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Another head scratcher on how he is so highly rated, by many Rams fans. While I disagree that he will be out of the game altogether, I see him as a middle of pack 2nd stringer at best. Others seem to hold him in much higher regard and I don't understand the basis as I don't see physical potential, nor do I see results.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Talent is much better than most think - coaching is problem Take these players elsewhere and they would do better. The thing is, there is an opportunity to change the approach and stop having the coaching holding back the talent. Do better at fundamentals. (route running and QB footwork in particular) Don't take off August (use preseason games for younger players to learn how to preparby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Basically the passing game has underachieved. The WR have physical talent but produce little results. They run bad patterns and are fundamentally lacking. The scheme is horrific with 6 plays and the opposing defense able to sit on a play based on the alignment. So predictable. They don't use the entire field and it gets so crowded for Gurley. Gurley is a once in a generation playerby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Pace to me was an underachiever - he could have been the greatest of all time. I believe he was the greatest talent of all time at left tackle, but didn't produce the greatest results of all time. He was definitely a great player though. I feel he fell short of what he could have been if he had not slacked off and skipped all the workouts year after year and missed entire preseasons. Robinson's problem has to do more with game day. Whatever he looks like this before 9/1 will not matter. Will he lead the league with mistakes at the snap whether it be a missed assignment or penalty? If he gets in middle of the pack in that area, with his physical talent, he should be a good one. Another underachiever on offense so far. Top of the league talent, but bottom of leagueby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
If he plays i guarantee he will play better with those coachesby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Warner use to rack up big totals of hakim and Faulk taking 2 yard catches and turning them into big gainsby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Rams are 0 out of 10 of breaking 800 yards. If your point is you don't have to have the best in the nfl. That argument has merit. If your point is that you can be near the bottom year after year and be successful that falls significantly short. These teams had somebody that produced and didn't run out practice squad guys week after week.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Basically every team in decade plus had top wrs getting more than 1000 yards but 2. When you do better 80 to 90 percent of the time with a 1000 yard wr that significantly improves your chances. Simply put in math terms. 80 percent is > 20 percentby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Team after team had 1000 yard receivers. Rams no 1000 yard receivers. Hence no playoff appearances in more 10+ yearsby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Great Video - Reminds me of Bruce and Greatest Show on Turf. They were so unselfish superstars and supported each other so much. Bruce's favorite play all time - the Proehl Touchdown. The Sports Illustrated Article when Bruce, Holt, Hakim wouldn't do the piece without Proehl.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
- Lack of being sound fundamentally - especially anybody who catches the ball - Bad August - Just blow off that month - Predictable offense (Scheme) - Game day adjustments are slow - Too little offense (Really run only 5 or 6 plays) - Game day preparation - really no plan how to attack the opposing team It really is bad all around. Hence #32 in the NFL in many areas on offense.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
That offense was not the same last year without Nelson. It made Rogers look Human to not have much around him. He pulled off a couple of miracles here and there, but it was quite an uphill struggle bringing back some old broken down James Jones to try to get something done.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
2 teams in every 50 years. :) that have historic defenses best of all-time. So I guess it is possible, but why make it harder on yourself to prove that you can do it without a playmaker. Just get the playmaker and improve your odds instantly.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
I think he won a few games. Best player in NFL history was a WR and dominated an era individually and team. Superbowls and he resurrected Steve Young's career and won with guys even like Bono, Grbac, Drunken something etc. For every Ravens and Bears that won with historic defenses, it is very rare that I think of those kind of great teams that didn't have a historic defense, be such a gby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
But only disagree to the extent that Britt isn't the most polished wr with route running and catching. But he has the talent 1) It hasn't been developed as it should be 2) and the makeup of the offense, the way they prepare, the execution in games, the scheme, etc.\ But hopefully the new WR coach will get better results and make a difference.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
A high draft pick with tremendous physical talent producing average results. Britt has played for Fisher nearly his entire career.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
It is knowing how to play and his fundamentals.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
makes no sense - 7-9 last year and you get a better QB. Now, the Rams did lose some players on defense so there is a little bit of an unknown there as well as Quinns health.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
that is my take based on observation and known metrics on speed, strength, etc. But Gurley should be much more than he was. Once in a generation talent that was stymied after teams knew the Rams had no creativity on offense. Defenses were on him in a second. So with him the results were underachieving. It may not have been his fault or a result of his development as a runningback but I wby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
If you were going to rate each player above or below what they are delivering to their talent level, just how many offensive players would be above the line and be considered overachieving. I have the following: 1) Cunningham 2) Havenstein I believe every other offensive player underachieved last year. That has got to get better.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
I believe he had the physical talent to be a 1000 yard receiver. Eddie George is the one player that I felt he has coached that overachieved. I thought he maximized his talent.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Gurley will be good regardless but he could be great. Fisher has got to embrace some change and can still call a ton of runs but have more variety in both the running game and passing game for 2 goals: 1) Create space and force the defense to account for more and have to cover more field 2) Create uncertainty of what kind of plays the Rams may run Make the defense defend the entire fielby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
and you gave specific examples of how playmaking ability puts points on the board which can help a team win the game and Austin did just that - made a difference in the win/loss.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Rams scored 13 points when the start of the play was executed within the last 2 minutes of 1st half up until the last week (week 16) when the Rams scored 10 in week 16. 2 field goals and 1 touchdown through 15 weeks. And this is with a kicker that can kick it 60+ yards. I believe this has got to be near the bottom of the league and is a missed opportunity. The mindset of not acceptingby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
All 3 are tremendously physically talented. I disagree. The talent is there, but the talent is not used well and is not developed.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
The Rams have not had a 800 yard receiver since Holt many many years ago. Most offensive players will underachieve with Fisher. It has been going on for 15 years and Austin is just one of a long line. But given his underachieving, can you imagine the Rams offense last year without Austin? It would have been beyond the worst in the league, maybe the worst in NFL history. He, at least,by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Holt would not be the same player with Fisher, nor would Warner, Bruce, etc. He is limiting and doesn't develop skill sets because of the limitations he sets to restrict development and does not emphasize fundamentals.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
