that is my take based on observation and known metrics on speed, strength, etc.
But Gurley should be much more than he was. Once in a generation talent that was stymied after teams knew the Rams had no creativity on offense. Defenses were on him in a second. So with him the results were underachieving. It may not have been his fault or a result of his development as a runningback but I would expect the ceiling with Gurley.
But I think overall the Rams coaching staff do a horrific job at all aspects.
1) Developer players (Although with Gurley, he is such a talent that isn't the problem) but it is with others (Britt, Quick, Cook, Austin, Robinson, and on and on)
2) Developing a scheme on using the talent they have
3) Preparing for the game
4) Adjusting during the game
Gurley should be the second 2000 yard runner with a 6.0 yards per carry average in NFL history. I think OJ Simpson did it once.
