What always amazed me about Holt was that he didn't look like he had blazing speed....but his technique immediately at the snap of the ball was special. McVay has been raving about Kupp's intelligence....and how "Pro-ready" his skills are. Watch this game closely and it is on full display. His hand technique at the LOS to create separation is excellent. The Raiders reacted badly oby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Sorry couldn't resist. Rams need to close the book on this dude ASAP.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
He spent last year in Fisher's doghouse. Fisher's D made him think too much. It seems like McVay will move him to safety where he can roam around and use his instincts more. McVay wants the Rams D backfield to become mor bawl-hawkish (and stop focusing on trying to deliver knockout hits). This plays right into Joyner's strengths. I see him making huge strides this year.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
The grabbed the Outside LB's which is probably the biggest personnel shift you would make going from 4-3 to a 3-4. Also got a DT who can play the NT spot in the 3-4. Seem as though the DB mentality will be changing too. Gone are the days of the hard-hitting (for extra effect) DB's (a la McDonald)......and say hello to ball hawking coverage DB's. I think this defense is going to play rightby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
That was hilarious. Philly fans were trying to stick it to him.....and he held his ground. Great TV moment.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Given that the Rams weren't taking their first pick until well into Round 2......I like the fact that they went with a position of which this draft is particularly stacked with talent. I would love to argue with whether Everett was the right TE to take....but that's were I put the trust in McVay. He knows how to make the offense excel with heavy use of the TE.....so let the guy take someoneby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
My favorite is also Ferragamo to Waddy. Not far below that is McCutcheon to Smith in the Superbowl. I remember when the Steelers scored first in the second half to take the lead.....I thought it was the beginning of the end. Then the Rams answered back in less than five minutes with McCutcheon to Smith (McCutcheon barely clearing a leaping Jack Lambert) to retake the lead. It was awesome waby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
I agree that McVay wants nothiing to do what that brand. He will let everyone talk about how young HE is. But....he is clearly expecting this team to show marked improvement on day 1. Not saying what he is doing will work....but I at least appreciate his effort to stop carpet-bombing Ram fans with excuses. He knows the players hear the same thing....and he doesn't want to give them an out.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
I think it's fair to say that Fisher did not drive the culture of discipline on the fundamentals on the offensive side of the ball. He was a defensive coach.....who just figured he can get some of his former good players (Britt, Cook), and combine them with some fast gimmicky players (Tavon).....roll the dice on a super-athletic RB (Gurley) and that would give the building block toward a successby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Still need to see the staff, the scheme, how it fits the talent.....as well as any upgrade in talent. I still don't know whether McVay is a great actor....or whether the guy really can process information as fast as he seems to process it. To me....this was one of the BIGGEST weakness of Fisher. His in-game decision making.....an inablity to make adjustments (even at halftime) left the Ramsby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
I honestly don't know any more than the next guy about McVay. From the interviews and sideline microphone.....it "appears" he is an EXTREMELY fast processor of information. Like....UBER fast. The flip side of it is.....that he has such an outgoing and engaging personality. Someone with this personality could be an expert B.S. artist. This can often give the appearance that he is aby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
I also predicted a bad year....6-10. However, I held out hope that I had it wrong. The way Fisher completely lost this team, with possibly missing badly on a QB which cost them a boatload of draft picks....and to see how little talent is left on this team... just leaves me completely at a loss. Then.....to see other teams bounce back quickly into the playoff picture (Giants, Falcons) while seeiby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
I am a huge ED fan when he was in between the white lines. However off the field, I grew tired of his "Me Me Me" attitude. Not surprising that he is somehow interjecting himself into the Rams situation right now. But the way I see it.....Fisher was still a possibility as staying for another contract. IF ED can be the flashpoint that changes all that...I'm all for it. I am on recby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
So true. Fisher has lost this team. He and his staff can never plan out...and execute a complete game plan. There is ALWAYS a leak in the dike which causes a loss. The players have checked out.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Just like it was in St. Louis....it's the same thing only a few thousand miles west. Disappointing that Kroenke isn't stepping in and doing something about it. Going into the fifth year of the Fisher term....we are still trying to figure out of there REALLY is good talent on this team......when 95% of them are Snisher's picks. Fisher owns it all....lack of talent, horrible coaching, befuddliby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
The Fisher combination of lack of discipline with anemic offense puts a ceiling of his teams at 9 wins. They have to get everything else right in order to reach 9 wins.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
It's been a half a decade now. Fisher is running out of excuses. Half way through this fifth year.....it's all HIS talent on this team. Can no longer blame previous regimes for poor drafting. And now.....the vaunted NFC West is no longer vaunted. It is vulnerable....and should be won by a reasonably good team. But a Fisher 7-9 team can't even win in this division. Time for Fisher to goby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
dropping to 3-4....losing 3 straight....with the game against the Giants being a blowout loss.....followed by a bye. If not then......then not till 2017by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
It was well documented how last year he worked extremely hard to get his knee in shape. By the time the season started....and he was allowed to play......he was fit to be tied. Seems this year.....he has dogged it.......and it shows. But.....who is responsible for calling Gurley out for his lack of preparation? Jeff Fisher....where are you?by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
He's gotta stop being the player's friend....and start leading them. When the players play like crap.....Fisher needs to hold them accountable and call them out. Even Fisher has to see....the clock is ticking. His "players coach" approach is not working with this team. Perhaps it would work if he took over a team that was already championship level. But for a team that has yet toby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
This defense is not only not great.....or even good. They are a below average opportunistic defense. If they can't get turnovers...they lose. It's embarassing to watch the Rams Marketing department try to jam the "Mob Squad" down our throats.......when the defense is really not good.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
The Rams will Always be a 7-9 gteam under this coach.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Fisher's plan this year was to suffocate the opponent with a smothering defense.....and have his offense limit the mistakes. He was willing to accept minimal big plays on offense. He figured the Rams defense would put them in a good enough field position where they only had to work a short field to punch it in. Then.....once they had a healthy lead.....the defense can pin their ears back and cby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Was today a bitter loss? Yeah....because you would think at home with a tie ball game against a middle-of-the-road team....the home (supposedly upcoming) team will take over the game. That said....they are 3-2. I had this team being 7-9 this year....but figured they would be 2-3 at this point. This was supposed to be a win....but I'll take 3-2 going into next week. I said it last week....tby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Four games is too early to get a real sense of where teams are defensively. I think you need about six or seven games to get a true sense. However, based on where things sit today, the Rams only face one team (Seatlle) who his ranked in the top 10 as an overall defense (by yards)....and only five teams in the top 20....leaving 6 teams in the bottom 12. If this trend holds up, there will be pby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Giants have no run game....particularly since they lost Shane Vereen. So, opposing teams are keeping all LB's and DB's back into coverage and doubling up Beckham Jr. This is also part of the reason why Cruz is seeing a resurgance and why Shepard (rookie) is shining early. Meanwhile Beckham Jr is getting denied. It won't last forever. Football is a game of adjustments. Giants will make someby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
I think some of the pieces might be there already. We saw Quick take a nice leap forward last week. This team still lacks someone who can take the top off a defense. The only one with that type of speed is Tavon. He is too small to be a deep threat.....although Keenum launched one deep to him last week. The O-line is simply not strong enough to dictate the line of scrimmage with 8 defendersby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Yahoo, on the other hand, has them ranked #17.....down with many 2-2 and a few 1-3 teams. Too low. Being #14 sounds about right.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
