This is not directed towards you Peoria, but it always bothers me when football analysis borrow from statistical concepts to shore up their articles and arguments. I just finished reading an article at "Football Outsiders" which read so much like a confused half-truth + half-falacy myth. In my opinion, those writers don't know enough about statistics to write about it, let alone justiby Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I really liked your work here DZ. A lot of thought put into it. If the Ram's do half of what you recommend then I think we should take a good step forward. The one thing that has bothered me consistently is AO's arm tackling. I'd like to see a better run stuffer in the middle. Maybe I just watched the wrong parts of a game at the right time but I saw far too many arm tackle attempts for aby Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com

Thank you PD for your posts on this. I think you, and Albany, and provided enough substance to show that Snead isn't as bad as I thought. It's obvious that you guys put some time and work into this and I appreciate it. I blamed Snead in part for all the suck, but as far as draft picks go, I was wrong and too harsh. Snead, and the Ram's drafting org look like they did well. Also, thanks to Zby Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I think the only TRUE way to measure how good Snead is or isn't is to compile all of the picks made by all 32 GMs over a 5-year span and then compare the results. The criteria for a "hit" or a "miss" has to be applied the same to every single pick to be fair. I'm not going to do this analysis as I don't have that kind of time but it would be interesting. As I understand youby Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I enjoy the drafting discussion on how Snead should be graded. I think it fair to say that the Rams track record during his tenure has been good and bad. No one can argue with his great successes in Goff, Donald, and Gurley. His failures are also clear. I would rate his track record as a 50/50 mix at this point. Give him both strong praise, and strong criticism. In my world, he'd be rated aby Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com

No one can do what the Pats have done without having some greatness in the entire franchise. Pure and perfect? No. Substantial track record? Yes. I respect the Pats, just like I respected the Walsh 49ers. Give the devil his due.by Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I don't think they are win/lose but rather the odds of a specific matchup.by Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I remember reading a comment once about this QB vs. D topic. It said, that if you have a great defense, you have great defensive players. When their contacts come due, they will often leave as free agents, and then your great D begins to collapse. They figured it was easier keeping one great QB than several great defensive players.by Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
My criteria is not other team's drafts successes or failures, its is our own. All of us agree we've had some good, and some bad. I think overall, slightly more bad than good, i.e. below average. I think comparing Snead's performance against other team's performances is a bad metric. Take a step back. I'm fairly intelligent, am very critical, and I think I grade harder than most. I view the Rams' W/L record as Snead's record in part. For five years they were bad or mediocre. There have been some standout picks, but haven't there also been some busts? Isn't that then just average at best? When you ask, "confident" I have to wonder "confident" in what? More average performance? Okay. But I think you are asking, "Do we think now that Sneadby Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
You're right Dodger, Fisher never moved the team forward. There was always one excuse or another. It was this that or the other. However, most teams have to deal with adversity. I think the better coaches find a way to succeed. Not Fisher. If you take the whole of Fisher's w/l record, you don't see a bad coach, you see a mediocre, below average, coach. I agree with what you wrote. Sometimes I watched Ogletree is his tackling was horrible. Even I know that you can't arm-tackle RBs. You've got to put a shoulder into them. Yet time after time he only used his arms. Real ILBs don't shy away from that type of contact. Move him outside and trade for a real ILB.by Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Falcons' experience and talent gives them an edge. The newness to the playoffs leaves our team a little unfocused.by Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Yes, amazing is a perfect word. I find myself as a stranger, in a strange land. Winning seasons? In the playoffs? MVP candidates? Winning the division? Putting such glorious hurts on Seattle, in Seattle! I'm bewildered, I don't know what to do or think! What was deeply great to me was seeing our team mature from game to game, and grow in strength. They did learn from their mistakes aby Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com

Zn is a good man and an appreciated board member and Rams' fan. We all disagree with one another at times. We even disagree with ourselves (its called changing our mind). I for one am glad, for one reason or another, to have someone disagree with me and point out other ways to look at things, even if I strongly disagree.by Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I hear what you are saying and it is true. But, I live in the Detroit area. Believe me, we don't have it, haven't had it, as bad as the Lions' fans. Even I get to tease them! Now maybe they'll have Cleveland for company. At least we got one ring and three appearances. They got zilch. How do you keep the Detroit Lions out of your yard? Put up goalposts. With the Rams, I tend to be a glass half empty pessimist. Its their fault. Of course it is far too early to compare McVey to Walsh. Show me a couple rings first. But as I look at this team and this season I have to give McVey huge credit. A previous dog-team doesn't perform at this level the next year unless the coaching is top notch. What an amazing transition! Everybody sees it.by Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com

Shaw was horrible. He went in cheap and demoralized many players, not on ED. I think he, more than anyone else, drove that once great franchise into the @#$%&-laden gutter. I think Georgia didn't have a clue so she let the bean counters run the team. There's a place for fiscal soundness, there's also a place to financial competitiveness. The team was managed horribly by incompetent penny-pinby Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Not a head scratcher. We all agree that McVey has proven he is a good HC. He isn't a perfect, or even a great HC. Something is wrong, really broken, when this type of performance is missed by the HC. By his own admission this isn't the first time he's missed this. McVey, like most performers, is doing what comes natural; he is playing to his strength. He admits he sees that the data telby Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I can't explain it but this injury strikes me as incredible stupidity on behalf of the Eagles HC or coaching staff. This is Pederson's fault. You've got a franchise QB cruising into the playoffs, a top ranked team. Yet you continue to expose your QB to season ending injuries! If he were just some bum QB, or if the season hung on one key play, then it would be understandable. But this? QBsby Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I have not seen the game, I've only read a couple reports that say that he was injured running the ball in. Was that a designed QB run play, or did Wentz scramble and didn't have any receivers so he ran it in on his own? I would think that in this day and age, everybody knows that running QBs sooner or later get injured. Why would any coach put his star player in harm's way? Cosell was a great announcer! I liked him a lot. Cosell, Gifford, and Meredith set the all time standard. I miss the wit and depth and variety of flavor Cosell was able to bring.
