I think he was worth more to the Rams than a very late 4th and kinda, sorta a 6th. He's still relatively young as well. Turns 27 in Sept. Not happy with the compensation, but I understand their desire to move on and find a better fit for the 3/4. Am hoping, however, they make up for this by packaging some of those later rounders and trading them for earlier rounds in 2019. That's doby Billy_T - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteSpeed_Kills I have been listening to NFL radio most of the day as I've been on the road - I have heard at least 4 calls of people calling up saying that Cleveland should draft Barkley at 1 and then trade 4 to the Eagles for Nick Foles :lol3 People are deadly serious and Kirwan and Miller actually entertained the last caller as if it was a good possibility. QuoteRams43 Note the 22 TD’s in his first 3 years. The 2800 yards. His height. He virtually missed ‘17 due to ACL. Thoughts as a possible alternative if Watkins walks? I pounded the table for the Rams to draft him. Excellent athlete with good size. Can jump out of the gym. Deceptive speed, good hands. I'd prefer Sammy, but Robinson would be a nice consolation prize.by Billy_T - RamsFootballFans.com
All of this may be moot, of course. But I think the Rams misused Sammy last season. I see him as a receiver who can do everything Tavon did, plus actually catch passes with consistency. As in, they can run Sammy on all of those "gadget" plays too. He has better long-speed than Austin, is almost as quick, can break tackles, block, etc. etc. I'd utilize him for all of it. Deep passes,by Billy_T - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotezn I know a lot of people remember Lonesome Dove. Did you know the character of Deets is based on a real person? A lot of people know that Gus and Woodrow are. But Deets was too. From the wiki: Bose Ikard (ca. 1840s–1929) was an African American cowboy who participated in the pioneering cattle drives on what became known as the Goodnight–Loving Trail, after the American Civilby Billy_T - Bucky's Pub
QuoteJamesJM "Betraying Spinoza"... but long ago. and I mean LONG ago. I think the year it was published? I was troubled by it, as I am with any 'interpretation' that involves deciphering of motive. Not that it wasn't interesting, or her viewpoint shouldn't be considered... but it is a viewpoint, an opinion. I would have been more receptive had I read Spinoza himself beforehand..by Billy_T - Bucky's Pub
Sorry to hear this. I met him at one of the Herdfests in SF back in the Oughts. Seemed like a great fan. Tremendous enthusiasm for the Rams. Also remembered him from the various Rams boards, likely going back more than twenty years for me, back in the days with Fast Eddie and Team Builder, if memory serves. Condolences to his family and closest friends. He will be missed.by Billy_T - RamsFootballFans.com
Quoteferragamo79 you are saying employees should make more than owners? In corporate America, employees do the vast majority of the work, but ownership keeps the vast majority of the surplus value, generated by those workers. Shouldn't be that way, IMO. Best way to set things up, in my view, at least in the near-term, is employee-owned and operated cooperatives. Which really means, there is noby Billy_T - RamsFootballFans.com
I know it's not gonna happen. The Jags probably won't let him go. But can you imagine the Rams with Robinson, Watkins, Woods and Kupp? The Rams played three wideouts more than any other team. Adding Allen Robinson gives them the chance to rotate in fresh receivers, all of whom can flat out play. And you'd also have Reynolds gaining time and experience, as well as some good new weight, hopefully.by Billy_T - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRamBill ....they want everyone to be starting from a dead start so that it's the same for everyone. If they didn't have them hold the starting position for a count of 3 they can get a bit of a rolling start by taking off as soon as the hand gets in the air. That could be an advantage. They want it consistent for all That may be the official story, but it doesn't work in reality. It doesby Billy_T - RamsFootballFans.com
I've been reading a lot more lately too. And doing a lot more rereading. Have been trying to put my own library to good use by reading several books in the same subject area. QuoteJamesJM I don't begrudge the way things are. Certainly it's much better for the players now. I guess my only 'gripe', if one can call it that... is the 'seeming' ebb of 'loyalty'... both from Owners, (mostly I think), and players alike. IOW... too much 'business' and not enough 'heart'. Quinn was one of my favorites. I'll miss seeing him in the Rams' uni. Just a few years ago, I wouldn't have traded him for any other defensive player in football. I thought he was the best in the biz, and still had tremendous upside. It's a shame what this game takes out of players. As for the old days when players stayed with their original teams. I side with them in relative terms. As in, I'd much rather see them get the money than the boys in suits. At the same time, I'm against the concentration of wealth at the top. So I'd much rather all of it be shared broadly, all the way down to the towel staff. The median income in America for a single individual is roughly 30K a year. I'm guessing that's the consensus here, right? Not a tough call. We're all going to like this a ton if the Chiefs had a fire sale. A bit less if the Rams give up high picks. Some may not like it at all if they gave up a #1 or more. I'm conflicted on that last possibility.
