But he has to prepare something as a contingency plan for a possible injury to his last TE. And BTW, Blanton has looked great (can't wait for Higbee + Blanton next year!), but he wasn't really a big part of what got us here.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
There are very few QBs who get better under pressure. He is one of them. Did you hear his comment in the presser? He was asked about the experience of watching the D go out to defend that 3 point lead. Matt's response: "Well, I'd rather have been out there on the field ..." He has a thing about being on the field trying to make plays with the game on the line. He just loves it.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
Another thread is discussing the thinness at TE. Because of this and to offer really unexpected looks, I can imagine 2 exotic sets: 1. No TE ... 2 RBs. I would really like to see us put Cam and Sony on the field together. I always figured a WR or slot would have to sit, but I'd like to simultaneously threaten a D with both styles of running. If we don't have a TE, we could split our WRs outby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
I mean, we have virtually no one after K B. What if he gets hurt? I trust SV will prepare sets with only WRs and slots. Better be ready!by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
And I am gutted that Higbee must miss the big game. I love that guy. Greatly underrated. And I love TEs who block and can also make some catches. (I used to be one, though at modest levels of the game.)by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
These days, that's rare. Thing is, playing tough physically can be learned to some extent. If you have talent that is used to doing it other ways, they can adjust to a different focus. If we become consistently tough in the physical game, we can become unbeatable. And it seems we are learning it.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
I always remember the SI cover headline. Photo: Swan in the air making the big catch with Rod Perry's hand inches away from breaking it up. Back then, SB's were generally bad, uncompetitive games. It was a big meme: "The games are always an anticlimax." And here we were, the upstarts no one expected anything from taking a lead into the 4th Q against the mighty Steelers. I remembeby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
Those were the years when Pete Rozelle was selling the nation on the NFL through TV coverage and the SB. Whatever you think of him, he sure had a PR vision. Of course, it was SB 3 that broke through into the nation's awareness. Namath beating the much more boring Colts. And all those AFC cities knowing they were on a par with the old league. I sure watched those games on TV. But, for me itby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
A big shout out to the Ram faithful who endure Whiner mania year after year. You folks must be pretty happy today! Of course, they'll be back next year. But for right now, it has to be sweet. Let's get the ring and leave the Red Bog eating their collective livers all off season!by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
I was just thinking about SB 1. They said SB 56, and I thought, "I remember SB I," I was 14 and living in Chicago. Say, I made some historical comparisons in my post about Kupp. Love to hear your reflections, given your web name.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
But, to me, you can just SEE that Stafford is anb elite level contributor who loves facing pressure. I just don't think Goff has that. I don't worry about it. But I am very happy to have M S pulling the trigger in playoff games!by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
In the last couple of games, I have repeatedly noticed DBs left on the ground because of his cuts. I mean, it happens a lot. Unbelievable. I'm not sure CK will ever get the credit he is due.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
I think it's hard to put a finger on what Kupp is doing. QuoteJamesJM I didn't get to see Crazy Legs... but that's one of the greatest nicknames of all time... it has meaning. In that same vein I think Kupp follows in his footsteps in that.... Kupp's running style and body deke's are like nothing I've ever seen before. I didn't mention YAC, but, again, it is incredible And, again, he does it with something other than what people traditionally think of as the key skill. People think of YAC as a matter of speed, quickness, or size. CK is good in those areas, but not necessarily elite. But he routinely makes people miss. I think it's similar to why he kills people with routes. He has an elite sense of thby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
I mean, I REALLY loved Ike. And he was a helluva route runner. Of course, we're working with memories of 2 decades ago. But I really do not think Ike could whip EVERY defense the way CK can. Ike was an elite level route runner. I think CK is well beyond that. Ellard was great. Not in the same conversation, though, in route running or in consistent dominance.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
Watching AD, we all know we are privileged to watch a DT who is one of the very best in league history. A dominant force in virtually every game. A player who simply cannot be taken out of the game. Well, we have another one. Cooper Kupp is a generational talent at WR. Here's the thing. Defenses cannot figure out how to cover him. They really, honestly can't. Why? I think that Cooper Kupby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
Yes indee. I think he'll make a big difference. With Travin, we have solid options at MLB. And that's what we really need against the Evil Empire.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com

When we broke the streak? Ike sobbing on the bench, his shoulders heaving. A lot of it is like a blur to me. Of course, I am an old fart and my entire memory is more or less a blur. But I just remember Kurt gashing them again and again. What I do remember is the emotion. The week before, when we were trying to convince ourselves we finally had the juice to break the curse. The night befoby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com

We have so many vets nearing the end. Who knows how many more chances AD will get? The good news that vets know how to face pressure. But even vets can be affected by pressure. God I hope they don't play tight. And I don't want AD to sell out for penetration, taking him out of plays.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
Folks, this game is really, really big. Of course, all title games are. But there is so much more going on here. First there is the whole AD window, which involves other vets as well. We blew it a couple years ago. But we were still relative newcomers to the scene and, frankly, AD was younger. Then there is the matter of the FO laying all of those bets on Ramsey, Stafford, OBJ, Miller ... Iby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
Aaron Donald can do virtually anything on the field. Sometimes, though, he is so intent on penetration that he lets things go by him. I'd rather see him ranging along the LOS this week, wreaking havoc horizontally than getting isolated upfield. I don't believe we can win this game through penetration. We have to defend the width of the field for, say, 10 yards of depth. That is where theby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
Tackling. Tackling. Tackling. We have an excellent defense ... except for the tackling issue. We are just not consistent enough there.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
But, I suspect that Morris will get interest without offers. His year has been positive, but also inconsistent and frequently shaky. And he has a ton of talent to work with. I am not sure he has results this year that would sell a team on him. I actually think that a 2nd year in his defense would lift our guys into elite levels. I think his system requires a lot of learning and we havenby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
I have been thinking that our D needs to do what it was designed to do but much more tightly than we've done most of the year. We need to squeeze the life out of that offense. Choke the running game. Contain the passing game. Challenge some short to medium passes, but above all tackle immediately. I don't have visions of sacks. I mean, I do. But those are not the keys. That bunch attacks thby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
